  • New Publishing Deal
    Well, this is one of those happy days. Some time ago I started talking to a new publisher, Boldwood Publishing, and I am delighted to be able to tell you that I have agreed contracts with them, and as a result they’re taking on eleven books from me. Initially these will be the three Vintener stories, then a fourth, which will follow the archers into a mercenary army, with future books telling the story of the men as they move into the Pope’s territories in Avignon, and then over to Italy, where John Hawkwood becomes a notable success.   • Smithsonian Journeys
    For the last few years (starting the year before Covid struck), I have been joining Smithsonian Journeys on their Classic British Mystery tours. I have to admit, they are enormous fun for me. Well, they would have to be, wouldn’t they? It means I get to leave my desk and go out to meet new people, talk to them about crime writing and mystery writers, visit locations where so many books have been set, or the places where people lived and wrote, and enjoy great company.   • Welcome to the new website!
    And good morning. After many years of enjoying the old site I’ve finally bitten the bullet and moved over. The old site was perfectly good, and I was lucky to have some great administrators on it, but the sad fact is, it was looking very tired. It was designed back in the early/mid 90s, I think, and every pixel had to be programmed, as I understand it. Certainly, because it was created long before the advent of clever stuff like WordPress and Wix, it was one of those things that would have cost thousands to have updated.
