The Vintener Trilogy

This was a hugely rewarding series to write. I have been fascinated by the Hundred Years War for many years, and having the opportunity to research this period, and tell the story of these me through their eyes was wonderful – if harrowing. These were not kind, gentle men fighting chivalrously. They were determined warriors, brutal, cunning and violent. Is it any surprise that I turned to humorous stories and Jack Blackjack after writing these?

These stories are about the lives of a vintaine (think platoon) of archers on the long marches to battles which no one thought they could survive, fighting Europe’s strongest army.
